SIDS and Other Sleep-Related Infant Deaths: Updated 2016 Recommendations for a Safe Infant Sleeping Environment
In its "Recommendations for a safe infant sleeping environment", the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) stipulates measures, including the following, to avoid Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and other sleep-related deaths:
SIDS is a subcategory of SUID and describes a sudden infant death whose cause cannot be fully explained, even with the assistance of a post-mortem and further investigation. The recommendations summarized here have been defined to reduce the risk of SIDS and sleep-related suffocation, asphyxia and entrapment of infants.
